What is Klonopin, and how is it used?
Klonopin is a prescription medication used to treat seizures and panic disorder symptoms.
Klonopin can be taken alone or in combination with other drugs.
Klonopin is a member of the Antianxiety Agents, Anxiolytics, Benzodiazepines, Anticonvulsants, Benzodiazepine class.
Klonopin may help you manage your symptoms, but it will not cure them. Clonazepam may take a few weeks or longer for you to feel its full effects. Even if you feel OK, keep taking clonazepam.
Even if you have side effects such as odd changes in behavior or mood, do not discontinue taking clonazepam without consulting your doctor.
If you stop taking clonazepam suddenly, you may experience withdrawal symptoms like new or worsening seizures,
hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that aren't there),
changes in behavior, sweating, uncontrollable shaking of a part of your body, stomach or muscle cramps, anxiety, or difficulty falling or staying asleep.
What are the doses of Klonopin?
Klonopin comes in tablet form. Unfortunately, the tablets must be swallowed whole with water.
Klonopin is a drug that is taken by mouth.
The initial dose for babies and children (up to 10 years of age or 30 kg of body weight) should be 0.01 to 0.03 mg/kg/day, divided into two or three doses to avoid drowsiness.
Unless seizures are controlled, or adverse effects prevent further increase, dosage should be raised by no more than 0.25 to 0.5 mg every third day until a daily maintenance dose of 0.1 to 0.2 mg/kg of body weight is attained.
The daily intake should be divided into three equal amounts wherever possible.
What are the side effects of Klonopin?
Klonopin has several potentially dangerous adverse effects, including:
new or worsening seizures,
severe drowsiness,
unusual changes in mood or behavior,
Aggression,
Hallucinations,
thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself,
weak or shallow breathing,
fluttering in your chest, and racing heartbeats
unusual or involuntary eye movements
If you experience any of the symptoms listed above, see a doctor as soon as possible.
The following are the most prevalent Klonopin adverse effects:
if you're exhausted or sad,
Drowsiness,
memory problems, and
issues with coordination or balance.
Tell your doctor if you develop a side effect that bothers you or does not go away.
These aren't all of Klonopin's possible adverse effects.
Request more information from your doctor or pharmacist.
What should I do if I forget a dose?
As soon as you recall, take the missed dose. However, if the next dose is approaching, skip the missing dose and return to your regular dosage plan. To make up for a missing dose, do not take a double dose.
